RESIDENTS are invited to attend The Wilbur Wine Tasting and Fun Day, to be held at Grass Roof Farmstall and Restaurant to raise funds for NGOs, The Southern African Foundation for the Conservation of Coastal Birds (SANCCOB) and the Eastern Cape Horse Care Unit (ECHCU).

The event on Sunday, March 19, will take place from 10:00 to 15:00, and will have something in store for the whole family, whilst celebrating these NGOs and sharing their respective rehabilitation and conservation messages.

Events on the day will include wine tasting, gin tasting, live music, amazing arts and crafts markets with nearly 30 vendors already on board, raffles and a vintage and modern-day car and motorbike show scheduled.

Grass Roof Restaurant’s Marizanne Kemp Ferreira, said residents should not delay and should take the opportunity to secure their spots at this fun-filled event now.

“There will also be some delicious Chinese food, sushi, pizza and burgers for sale, as well as Wilbur’s Hops Shack for the beer lovers”.

Marketing and Fundraising co-ordinator at SANCCOB, Kirstie Paulse, said that they are incredibly excited to be a part of the upcoming event.

“We’ll be able to raise awareness around the important rescue, rehabilitation and release work that our organisation does for seabirds, especially the endangered African Penguin species,” she said.

“The event is really an awesome opportunity to just have some fun while simultaneously making a difference,” Paulse added.

Manager and Inspector at ECHCU, Carla Hazel, added that they are grateful to Grass Roof owner, Nicky Charlewood, for once again supporting the different animal organisations.

“The Horse Care Unit, like SANCCOB, is always in need of financial assistance to enable us to help our ‘salt-feathered’ and four-legged equine friends.

“I think this will be a wonderful opportunity for residents of the Bay to show their support.”

Charlewood added that corporates and local businesses also have the chance to get involved.

“Businesses that purchase a minimum of 10 adult tickets can put up their advertising material at the event on the day. In the meantime, the restaurant and farmstall will also be open as normal.”

Tickets sell for R300 each and will be available for purchase at the gate on the day.

Children under the age of 18 years pay R80 and get access to the kids’ park.

Tickets can also be pre-booked from Charlewood on 073 382 6607 or Ferreira on 0834466180.
