THE Community Chest charity golf day, in partnership with Vodacom, will be held on May 5 at the Little Walmer Golf Course. Community Chest of the Eastern Cape will also be celebrating its 71st anniversary on the day.
“At a recent Presidential Summit on gender-based violence and femicide, in Midrand, it was revealed that the Eastern Cape emerged as the leading province with cases of GBV. It is for this reason that funds raised at the golf day will be used for our gender-based violence projects, and we are grateful to have Vodacom partner with us on the event,” said Community Chest CEO, Selwyn Willis.
“We are proud to be the main sponsor for this golf day, as Vodacom supports the fight against GBV. For us at Vodacom, we view violence against women and children as a violation of human rights and the greatest impediment towards gender equality.
“Addressing gender-based violence requires urgent collaboration from all South Africans and Africans. Whether young or old, men and women, whatever race, rank, age, gender or social class, and more especially in the digital age, gender-based violence knows no borders. It is one of the greatest social ills of our time,” said Takalani Netshitenzhe, director of External Affairs for Vodacom South Africa.
Community Chest would like to invite all golfers to join them on the day. To book your four-ball contact the office on 041 582 1592 or e-mail info@cchestpe.org.za. Space is limited.
