HOW much more can the supporters of the Grey High rugby team endure?

They will likely be hoping for a less tense encounter, than the two heart-stopping matches last weekend, when Grey hosts Wynberg in Gqeberha on Saturday.

Grey was involved in two nailbiters at the annual Grey Festival, beating SACS 27–17 last Thursday, and then getting home 17–15 against Westville two days later.

There might be doubt whether supporters are ready for another thriller, but the Grey boys will certainly be up for the challenge.

In both victories they showed tremendous character, guts and commitment and will be ready for more against Wynberg.

With just more than 10 minutes left in the match against SACS, the home side was in trouble. Their opposition were leading 17–15, but Grey dug deep to score two tries and clinch the victory.

On Saturday, against Westville, it was more of the same in another match full of twists and turns.

Grey only sealed the victory in the last minute, when they were awarded a penalty try.

The two Kariega sides at the festival, Muir and Brandwag, came back strongly on the second day.

Parktown beat Muir 21–7 on the first day, but Muir bounced back to beat St Stithians 31–15.

Selborne was too strong for Brandwag (32–0), but Brandwag nearly won their second match. Parktown had to pull out all the stops to win 19–13.

Nico Malan impressed in their two matches. The Humansdorp team drew 17–17 with St John’s and beat Dale College 22–5.

It should be a very interesting encounter between Pearson and Nico Malan on Saturday, in Gqeberha.

Framesby struggled in their first match at the Wildeklawer Tournament in Kimberley last Saturday.

The Gqeberha team defended poorly against Welkom Gym who scored eight tries to three, in a runaway 54–19 victory.

With lessons learned, Framesby should return to their winning ways when they travel to Kariega, to take on Daniel Pienaar.
