Gqeberha businessman, Arnold Terblanche, who is one of the accused in the murder of his estranged wife Vicki Terblanche, appeared in the Gqeberha Magistrate’s Court today.

His co-accused, Reinhardt Leach, did not appear with Terblanche as there was a delay in transporting him from St Albans Prison.

During this morning’s proceedings the case was remanded to Friday, 30 June for the matter to be transferred to the high court. The matter was set down today to be transferred to high court for a court date, but this could not be done as the indictment is not yet completed.

Alwyn Griebenow, who appeared on behalf of Terblanche, told the court that they will object to the case being remanded again if the indictment is not ready and the matter is not transferred to the high court during the next appearance.

Neatly dressed Terblanche was again accompanied by his daughter Natalie Nell at today’s appearance.

Leach later made his court appearance in the Gqeberha Magistrate’s Court.

Dressed in a navy blue shirt and denims, he calmly stood in the dock for today’s appearance. He previously abandoned bail and is currently held at St. Albans prison.

He was also informed that the case has been remanded to Friday, June 30, for the final indictment to be served on him and the case to be transferred to the high court for a high court date.

After his appearance a member of the gallery, believed to be his father, greeted him and handed over a package with food to the police court officer to give to him.

Terblanche and Leach are accused of being behind the murder of Vicki Terblanche, who was Terblanche’s estranged wife and Leach’s girlfriend at the time of her death.

Her body was found in a shallow grave in Greenbushes in October 2021. A third accused, Dylan Cullis, has since been sentenced to 18 years in prison following his confession as part of a plea deal with the state in March this year.
