Gqeberha homeowner shot, injured during home robbery

A man from Rowallan Park was shot in his home during a house robbery in the early hours of this morning, July 4.

SAPS Kabega Park attended to a complaint of a house robbery at a house in Friesland Street in Rowallan Park.

According to police spokesperson, Colonel Priscilla Naidu, the incident occurred around 01:35 when the victim was awoken by a window being broken in his house.

“Upon investigation, the victim and his wife went to the lounge and noticed a broken window and two unknown men exiting their house with their TV’s, cellphones, jacket and laptops.

“When the suspects saw the victim and his wife, one shot was fired by one of the suspects at them, injuring the victim on his right buttocks,” Naidu said.

The suspects fled on foot.

“The victim was taken to hospital for medical treatment and his condition is stable. The value of the property is estimated to be R70 000,” said Naidu.
