Missing woman (35) presumed dead after body found in old Coega road

SAPS Humewood detectives are seeking the community’s assistance with any information relating to the disappearance and possible death of a Gqeberha woman whose body was found in bushes on the old Coega road, in Swartkops on Tuesday, July 25.

According to police spokesperson, Colonel Priscilla Naidu, it is alleged that on Sunday, July 23, Ayanda Dupa-Emenaha (35), left her work at 17:30 and dropped off a co-worker in Rink Street.

Naidu said Dupa-Emenaha indicated to her friend that she was going to Westborne Road before going home however she never returned home.

“Her vehicle, a white Toyota Etios was found abandoned on the old Coega Road at about 00:45 on Monday morning, July 24,” said Naidu. 

“A missing person report was opened at SAPS Humewood on Monday, July 24.

“On Tuesday, July 25, at approximately 15:30 with the assistance of the K9 Search and Rescue unit, a body was found in bushes on the old Coega road about 30 metres  from where her vehicle was found.”  

“Although there is a suspicion that the body which was burnt beyond recognition may be that of the missing woman, police will do a DNA analysis to confirm.  Circumstances surrounding her disappearance is unknown at this stage,” added Naidu. 

Police are now investigating a murder case.
