Hayley Maart’s choc-chip flapjacks

Ingredients

  • 250 ml cake flour
  • 10 ml baking powder
  • 1 ml salt
  • 30 ml sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 250 ml milk
  • 15 ml margarine, melted
  • 60 ml chocolate chips
  • Oil for frying
  • Maple syrup to serve

Preparation

Step 1: Sift flour, baking powder and salt. Add sugar.

Step 2: Beat egg, milk and melted margarine and add the dry ingredients and chocolate chips.

Step 3: Beat until smooth and leave to stand for 30 minutes.

Step 4: Grease a frying pan and drop spoons of batter into pan.

Step 5: Turn over in the pan as soon as bubbles appear on the surface or until golden brown.

Step 6: Stack up and drizzle each one with maple syrup.
