Claire Baillie’s bread with a cheesy garlic twist
Ingredients
- 500 g self-raising flour
- 1 cup mature grated cheese
- 1 tsp salt
- 1 tsp garlic flakes
- Pinch of ground black pepper
- 1 tsp fresh parsley, chopped
- Grated parmesan cheese
- 1 x 375 ml bottle Amstel beer
- 300 ml dry white wine
Preparation
Step 1: Mix all dry ingredients together, except parmesan cheese.
Step 2: Add the beer and wine, and mix to a soft dough.Pour into a greased loaf tin.
Step 3: Sprinkle with grated parmesan cheese and parsley.
Step 4: Bake in a pre-heated oven for 30 minutes at 180 °C.
Step 5: Test after 20 minutes with a skewer to see if the bread is done, otherwise leave for the rest of the time.
Step 6: This bread is lovely when served with a braai.
