South African Police Services have released the identity of the five people who were shot dead on Sunday, 17 September, in Gelvandale, Gqeberha.
SAPS Colonel Priscilla Naidu said, “The identities of the five deceased persons are as follows: Damiel Cornellissen (42), Amber Van den Berg (37), Shariff Guttie (42), Ismaaêel Van Breda (29), and Jade Jantjies (22).”
It is alleged that at about 23:50 on Sunday night, an unknown number of gunmen wearing balaclavas entered a yard in Koedoe Street and proceeded to the outbuilding at the back of the house.
Shots were fired from the outside before the gunmen entered. Naidu added that it is alleged that the house is a drug post.
The Provincial Commissioner, Lt Gen Nomthetheleli Mene urged anyone with information relating to this case to come forward and assist the police in the pursuit for justice.
