A 54-year-old male will appear in the East London magistrate court on Monday, October 2 2023 following the alleged rape of a 16-year-old teenager during the early hours of Sunday, October 1 in Mzamomhle informal settlement in Gonubie, East London.
“It is alleged that at about 01:35, the teenager visited her neighbour who is a friend to her and were having drinks when they were joined by the suspect.
The suspect requested the friends to go the shack outside to consume their alcohol. While the victim was alone, she was allegedly raped by the suspect. She was rescued by her friend and the matter reported to her father who in turn alerted the police,” said Captain Hazel Mqala of SAPS.
The suspect was arrested on a charge of rape.
