Areas around the Eastern Cape are experiencing mudslides, flooding and road closures due to the Orange Level 6 disruptive rain predicted by the South African Weather Service today, October 21.

According to the Port Elizabeth Updates’ Facebook page, there has been a mudslide on the N2 towards Cape Town on the Kaaimans River Bridge between George and Wilderness.

“The road is blocked with debris, and traffic is heavily affected.”

” Avoid crossing rivers and swollen streams,

“Monitor the weather conditions and, if need be, identify areas to store valuable items from flood water safely,” it said.
