Three alleged hijacking suspects were swiftly arrested by police members soon after a vehicle was hijacked in Settlers Park in Central yesterday, October 23.
According to police spokesperson, Colonel Priscilla Naidu, it is alleged that at about 07:50, the 22-year-old complainant had just parked his vehicle on How Avenue when three men and a woman approached him.
“He was pointed with a firearm, and the keys to his grey Hyundai Atos was taken; the suspects got into the vehicle and drove off.
“At about 08:30, SAPS Humewood members spotted the vehicle in Marine Drive in Summerstrand,” said Naidu.
“A chase ensued, and the suspects jumped out of the vehicle and fled into bushes. With the assistance of SAPS Walmer and Mount Road, three suspects (2 men and a woman) were arrested,” she added.
“The suspects, aged between 30-40 years old, were detained on a charge of vehicle hijacking.”
