FANS were treated to basketball of a high standard when the Nelson Mandela Bay Basketball Association (NMBBA) hosted their games at Raymond Mhlaba Indoor Sports Centre in Motherwell on Sunday.
Newcomers Varsity College put up a good fight even though they fell to Zwide Eagles B by 62–54. Underground Basketball Club gave a good account of themselves, despite their close 60–58 defeat to the tough Spartans in a pulsating clash.
Spartans Junior B side, who promised to claim the victory in the first two quarters of the game, saw themselves go down by 78–61 to Zwide Eagles B as well.
Following their loss in their first game, Underground Basketball Club made things right with their loyal supporters by defeating University of Fort Hare Tigers 64–56 in a thrilling clash.
In the only ladies’ game, University of Fort Hare Tigers played their hearts out, but suffered defeat by the narrow margin of 49–46 to Gemineyez Ladies, in what was a highly-contested clash.
