  • The Reach for a Dream Foundation held an event to celebrate the orgranisation’s achievements with assisting children in achieving their dreams. They also bid farewell for over a decade to Michelle Van Huyssteen, the foundation’s national finance administrator.
  • At the event, Van Huyssteen introduced the new regional manager for the Eastern Cape, Lwanele Mpeta.
  • Van Huyssteen also mentioned that the PE Express continues to support Reach For a Dream with its endeavors to assist children with life-threatening illnesses.

The Reach for a Dream Foundation recently hosted a few of their many donors at the Grey High School Pavilion in Gqeberha. The weather might have been windy and cold, but certainly not in the room filled with dream makers from all across the Eastern Cape.

Representatives from different schools from the Garden Route to the Bay, and even as far as East London, all came together to not only celebrate all the dreams of little children they were able to make come true this year, but to also bid farewell to Michelle van Huyssteen who has been the foundation’s national finance administrator for over a decade.

“This is certainly not goodbye. I will still be around and go back to being a volunteer.

This organisation means everything to me; all the lives we have changed keep me going. So, you’re not getting rid of me so easily,” she joked.

 Van Huyssteen said,

You know, all the effort you as the donors put into making each dream come true is appreciated. Reach for a Dream offers the child a magical moment to regain their childhood that is being lost to an illness. So, even things that seem small to us, like picking them up from their different communities in that big branded van mean the world to them. They always make sure I drive all the way in so they can be seen getting into the car, it’s the most hilarious, heart-warming thing.

After playing a tear-jerking video of a few children whose dreams were made possible this year, attendees were treated to an array of breakfast snacks.

Appreciation awards were handed to each donor present, including PE Express.

“With your long-standing support and efforts, PE Express continues to assist the foundation to inspire children to dream, and use their dreams to fight their life-threatening illness,” said Van Huyssteen.

“Michelle has created a beautiful legacy; she has such a beautiful relationship with all the children and donors, and with your support I hope to continue that beautiful legacy,” she concluded before gifting her predecessor with a vibrant bouquet of flowers.
