It was all smiles and joy for the learners and educators when Vulumzi Secondary School honoured them for their excellent performance during last year’s final examinations recently.

Guest speaker, Luvo Dani, told the learners that they should refrain from doing wrong things.

Dani said, “You must choose the right friends. When I was a boy, I bunked classes so much that I ended up being a dropout. Life was difficult, and I had bad friends whose influence led me to jail. My mother was always heartbroken, and she died when I was young. I urge you, learners, to take education seriously because it is the key to success.”

Gift of the Givers project manager, Ali Sablay, who gave gifts to the top 10 Grade 12 learners and the principal, said that they have had a strong relationship with the communities of Motherwell since the outbreak of COVID-19.

Sablay said, “We received a call from Vulumzi principal, Mzimkhulu Fina, that his Grade 12 learners did extremely well during the 2024 final examinations. I think that was not just a great celebration for the school but for the whole community of Motherwell. Their 98.3% pass rate was a remarkable achievement. We know the challenges that their learners face, but they defeated the odds.”
