The Feather Market Organ Society presents their annual charity Christmas Concert in the Feather Market Hall on Wednesday, December 6, at 13:00. This year the Merryvale Special School is the beneficiary.
Four organists, Ciska Range, Albert Troskie, Jonathan Hughes and Justin Stone, will perform festive Christmas music on the large pipe organ. Four singers, Lucretia Sikwebu, Lindokuhle Gushu, Else Nelson, and the tenor Alfred Felkers, will sing attractive works for the festive season, including O Holy Night, Angels’ Carol, White Christmas, Somerkersfees and Ave Maria, by Massenet.
Brilliant flautist, Dr Leonard Heydenrych, who recently settled in Port Elizabeth, will treat the audience with superb flute playing, including the lovely Cantique de Jean Racine by Faure, in which he will be joined by four flutes led by Erna Cloete. The well-known piano and organ duo, Erika Bothma and Albert Troskie, will play attractive arrangements of Elizabethan Serenade and Deck the Hall, and the concert will end on a high note, with all musicians and the audience performing the well-known The Holy City.
Admission is R50, and R40 for pensioners, R10 for children. No pre-booking will be available, tickets to be purchased at the door. The concert duration will be 75 minutes. Contact Professor Albert Troskie at 082 726 9595.
