KHIPU Major Chiefs maintained their unbeaten record after they claimed a well-deserved 3–0 victory over Highland Spurs during their SAFA Nelson Mandela Bay Hollywood Bets Men’s Regional Leaguewhich took place at Khayamnandi in Despatch on Sunday.

Chiefs played as if they were at their home ground, piling the pressure on Spurs. The Kariega side’s defensive wall was cracked when the Chiefs’ skipper, Nkosinathi Mhlanga, banged in the opening goal in the 40th minute, to put Chiefs ahead, 1–0.

Spurs started to come back, but Chiefs’ defence kept things tight at the back.

Chiefs’ seasoned striker, Simamkele Pefile, did what he is known for, scoring a spectacular goal on the hour mark, with Chiefs increasing their lead to 2–0.

Spurs supporters thought their side was going to reply, but Chiefs were very strong. Things got worse for Spurs as the Chiefs’ winger, Lutho Jiza Mgeyana, was rewarded with a top-notch goal in the 82nd minute. Chiefs sealed the game at 3–0 in front of Spurs supporters.

New Brighton Academy made their home supporters happy by accumulating a well-deserved 2–0 victory over Eleven Stars at Chevrolet Stadium on Saturday. Old Grey beat Eastern Cape Celtics 2–0 at Old Grey Grounds on Saturday.
