Gqeberha police confirmed that the body of Alton Perry (20), a young man with down syndrome was found in a wooden extension of a home on old Stanford Road, in Helenvale on Monday, March 11.
In a media statement released by police, the police spokesperson, Captain Andre Beetge said at 17:25, Perry was found with one gunshot wound to the head.
” It is allegedly from a stray projectile from a crossfire between two rival gangs,” said Beetge.
Beetge further mentioned that Perry was a person with Down syndrome.
“A case of murder was opened and being investigated by SAPS Gelvandale,” he added.
