If you know anything about Formula 1, then you know that Adrian Newey is a bonafide genius. So impressive have his exploits been in F1 that he’s been likened even to the great Chuck Norris with his own set of impossible feats. Not least of is the fact that when Adrian Newey designs a car gravity itself takes notes.

Jesting aside, Newey has, for decades, been the designer extraordinaire in the F1 paddock. From championship success at Williams in the early 90s to Mika Hakkinen’s McLaren run of two consecutive titles in ’98 and ’99. Newey followed this, first, with the dominant Seb Vettel era and has now added the domination of Max Verstappen to his illustrious cv as well. It’s no surprise then that most teams would want his services.

Most of the rumours lately have been swirling around a possible move to Ferrari. It’s no secret that Newey has turned down offers from Ferrari in the past, but could the time finally be right? At Red Bull, Newey enjoys a lot of autonomy and has been given all but a blank check to build the fastest hypercar his mind can conjure. Ferrari would have to make an offer as good if not better to tempt Newey to move to Maranello. But if getting Lewis Hamilton’s signature was a coup for Ferrari, then securing the services of Adrian Newey would be cataclysmic.

But then the unrest and negative publicity that has been swirling around Red Bull the last few months may be wearing thin on Newey. After all, he is around only to produce the fastest Formula 1 car possible. And as Lewis Hamilton himself has proven – never say never.
