Police are urging motorists to avoid using Westville Road in Kwadwesi Extension due to violent protest actions taking place this morning, March 19.
According to police spokesperson, Captain Sandra Janse Van Rensburg at approximately 06:00 this morning, a group of approximately 300 community members congregated on the road and it has been reported that four vehicles (3 Trucks and bakkie) were set alight.
” The reason for the protest is due to the housing development within the area of Kwadwesi Extension,” she said.
“The MMC and councillors are in meetings with the community leadership.
Public Order Policing and Metro Police are on the scene,” she added.
“Motorists are advised to use alternative routes,” she warned.
