NO more going to school barefoot for learners in Zwide, after the Boardwalk Hotel and Casino handed over 60 pairs of shoes to those in need at two schools in the area.
Delighted learners at Khwezi Lomso Comprehensive School and Garret Primary School received their shoes at a handover in the presence of the Eastern Cape member of mayoral committee for Sport, Recreation, Arts and Culture and, Mcebisi Bass Kamana, as well as representatives from Hope for Kids.
“We were approached by an NGO called Hope for Kids to assist with sponsorship, and because education is Sun International’s main socio-economic development focus area, we knew we had to assist,” said Boardwalk Hotel and Casino general manager, Tati Tsunke.
“Some of these children were arriving at school barefoot as they cannot even afford the basic uniform.”
