THE Full Contact Martial Arts Association (FCMA) Eastern Cape team attended the FCMA National tournament on March 1 and 2, at the Kempton Park Sports Arena in Kempton Park.

Through tough training with help from senseis Chris and Alta Mance at their club in Mount Pleasant, the team had great success and brought home 37 medals from 17 team members in the FCMA National tournament divisions.

The team competed in the traditional martial arts divisions of:

  • Points fighting/male and female
  • Individual points forms (kata)/ male and female
  • Team forms/male and female
  • Traditional martial arts weapons/male and female

Other divisions/male and female at the national event:

  • Points fighting (kickboxing)
  • Continuous fighting
  • Creative weapons

According to Chris, selected medallists will be able to attend the World Martial Arts Organisation (WMO) in Spain in November this year.
