The Eastern Cape Department of Health noted the concerning spread of malicious videos of a leaking hospital roof, which was said to be Dora Nginza Hospital.

According to information received from a statement from the Eastern Cape Department of Health, “the hospital depicted in the video was not Dora Nginza Hospital.”

“The widely spread social media video was allegedly taken at the Gqeberha Hospital,” the statement said.

The blanket shown on the floor in the video was written Western Cape.

In the statement, it is said that fake news such as these can have a negative impact on the reputation of the hospital and that it needs to be addressed.

“We are concerned that some malicious people are hellbent on trying to tarnish the good name of Dora Nginza Hospital, and by extension, the Eastern Cape Department of Health.”

These false claims negatively impact the department of Health and the hospital.

The statement fruther added, “Our dedicated and hardworking healthcare workers will not be deterred by the desperate fake news.”

“The department is committed to delivering quality health and care services to the more than 90% of uninsured people who rely on the public sector for their health needs,” the statement concluded.
