A family’s home invasion ordeal ended with swift justice when police caught four armed suspects after they robbed and tied up a woman and her two children.
According to police, the incident occurred in Game Park Road, Theescombe, when the suspects entered the family home on Tuesday.
Armed with a gun, they tied up a 45-year-old mother and her two young sons before ransacking the house.
Police spokesperson Captain Andre Beetge commented that Kabega Park officers arrested the suspects within minutes.
“In the house was a 45-year-old female victim who was tied up together with her two minor sons, the suspects then left the house with cash, jewelery and three cell phones.”
The suspects fled the scene when the victim’s husband arrived.
“SAPS Kabega Park members quickly responded to the house robbery and spotted the group running through the property of the adjacent game park and arrested them,” said Beetge.
“On investigation they recovered an unlicensed firearm (revolver) in the possession of one of the suspects (aged 59) and it will be sent for further forensic and ballistic analysis. Stolen goods to the value of about R210 00 was also confiscated and is in the process of being handed back to the complainant.”
Cases of house robbery and illegal possession of an unlicensed firearm were opened for investigation.
The four suspects (aged between 33 and 59 years) will be appearing in the Gqeberha Magistrates Court tomorrow.
