The Provincial Serious and Violent Crime unit in Gqeberha is investigating a business robbery of a chain store at MetLife Mall Shopping Centre earlier today, 13 August, in the SAPS Kabega Park precinct.
According to preliminary information, at approximately 11:30, the manager was in the store with two shop assistants.
The SAPS spokesperson, Captain Sandra Janse Van Rensburg said, “One female suspect entered the shop followed by two male suspects. One of the male suspects had a firearm that they used to threaten the complainant and his assistants. The female and male suspects started to take clothing from the rails and placed it into bags.”
She added, “Two more suspects entered the shop and also took clothing and walked out of the shop. The five suspects fled in a white Kia Picanto that was waiting outside.”
