There has been good rainfall in the Gqeberha and Kouga areas overnight which is expected to result in good runoff into the Churchill and Impofu dams.

The Eastern Cape’s own Weather Guru, Garth Sampson, said on his Facebook page this morning that at 8 am the following rainfall figures were received: Lorraine 42mm, Cotswold 41mm, Assegaaibos 55mm, Kareedouw 40mm, Port Elizabeth Airport 37mm, and Joubertina 7mm.

According to Sampson, although the rain was not widespread, good figures around the Kareedouw area will show some good runoff into the Churchill dam and some into the Impofu dam. Good rains in the Kouga mountains today and tomorrow could result in a good improvement in these two important dams. He cautioned, however, that the seasonal forecast is still maintaining below-average figures for winter.

There were also comments on social media about good rainfall in the Hankey area.
