Community Chest’s annual Winter Woolly Drive commenced at the beginning of June and runs until the end of July.

“This is wonderful to see the generosity of our city, wanting to make a difference in the lives of those less fortunate,” said Selwyn Willis, CEO of Community Chest.

This drive will bring warmth to many under-privileged. They will also collect non-perishable food items this year.

“Food security has always been a challenge. Children, the elderly, and under-privileged families rely on soup kitchens for a plate of food. Our target this year is to collect a tonne of items, including warm blankets, socks, and other clothing items.”

The main drop-off points will be at the Walmer Park, Newton Park, Penford (Kariega), Summerstrand, Cleary Park, Moffett Hypermarket, CBD Uitenhage, Commercial Road, Baywest, Bluewater Bay, The Boardwalk, The Gardens (Lorraine) Linton Grange, Walker Drive, Heugh Road, and Despatch Pick ’n Pay stores.

There will also be a drop-off point at Oceanly Water, and at The Local Choice Pharmacy in Seaview.

Shoppers can also drop off items at Baywest Mall and Walmer Park shopping centre.

Corporates and schools are also invited to request a box so they can do their own internal collection.
