WITH courage and grace, pageant contestants participated in their very first fashion show at Face of the Bay’s semi-final event recently.

Brand ambassador, Candice Heynes, said that Face of the Bay not only stands for changing the ordinary to extraordinary, but also for transforming the norms of society and expectations of what a pageant should look like.

“Making a difference does not require beauty or ramp perfection. It also requires true passion, authenticity, and courage,” said Heynes.

She further said she proudly and firmly believes in what the Face of the Bay brand stands for, to empower and be the face of change.

After hosting a successful pageant event on May 3, at Space Unlimited in North End, Heynes said she wanted to extend her heartfelt gratitude and appreciation for all the support they received.

Adding to the excitement of the event, she said that many of the contestants were courageous enough to take the stage for the first time, to showcase and embrace their authenticity.

“We have proven that, with passion, teamwork, and by believing in each other, we are powerful together,” said Heynes.

The semi-finalists in the female category were: Greshanda Bowers, Ursula Sauls, Nadeema Heers, Janine Harrison, Sherylee Daniels, Angelica De Bruyn and Shauntay Daniels.

The semi-finalists in the male category were: Sivuyile Mankule and Bandla Ngwane.

The Face of the Bay finals event will take place at the Boardwalk ICC Convention Centre on November 9.
