Linda Linda identified as woman who died at Hobie Beach, police suspect suicide

An incident occurred at Hobie Beach on June 24, where a woman was found dead. Police have now identified the deceased as 19-year-old Linda Linda. Investigations reveal that she allegedly took her own life using her father’s firearm.

According to police spokesperson, Captain Andre Beetge, Linda’s parents saw her picture being published on social media and decided to contact police. And a formal identification was done at Mount Road mortuary this morning, June 27.

Beetge said that before Linda’s death, she lived with her parents in Fairview, Gqeberha.

“The investigation was initially treated as a murder case, but various leads have led police to suspect that she shot herself, committing suicided.

“Her father has indicated that his firearm is missing from his safe at home and suspects that it was his firearm that she used,” Beetge explained. 

Beetge stated police are still looking for the firearm and are suspecting that a passer-by might have removed the firearm and her handbag from the crime scene.

“Police are warning our community that it is a criminal offence to tamper with crime scenes and to be in possession of an unlicensed firearm.”
