Two employees of a courier company were hijacked and kidnapped at gunpoint by four armed men yesterday, July 1, in Sunridge Park.
Police spokesperson, Captain Andre Beetge, confirmed that on Monday, July 1, a courier company was making deliveries with a Ford Transit vehicle on Sunridge Park Drive, Sunridge Park, when it was hijacked by four armed men driving a blue VW Polo.
Beetge said, the driver and assistant were taken at gunpoint out of their vehicle and put into the blue VW Polo.
“They were driven to Deal Party at Baxter Bridge where they were taken out of the vehicle and forced to walk into New Brighton,” Beetge explained.
Beetge added, “The suspects then allegedly fled the scene, and the victims alerted the police about their ordeal. The delivery vehicle was found burnt out at about 11:15 in Red Location, New Brighton.”
A case of vehicle hijacking and kidnapping has been opened and is being investigated by SAPS Mount Road.
