Nelson Mandela Bay Municipality Member of the Mayoral Committee for Roads and Transport, Councillor Bradley Murray, and officials from the Integrated Public Transport System (IPTS) office, recently launched the IPTS school transport programme at Arcadia Secondary School.
Murray encouraged students to use the IPTS buses, emphasising their safety and cost-effectiveness.
The Route 341 tickets range from R8 to R10, providing a convenient and direct journey to school, eliminating the need for connecting taxis. The bus stops right in front of the school, ensuring a safe and hassle-free commute.
Principal Jackie Cloete urged students to report any acts of vandalism and take care of the buses.
The IPTS route also services other nearby schools, including Astra Primary School and Cedarberg Primary School.
“The main purpose of this programme is twofold. One is for kids to get to school in one trip, and the other is for them to get to school having used only half the money they would normally spend,” said Murray, commenting on the importance.
“The IPTS is the most affordable mode of public transport there is in Nelson Mandela Bay.”
This initiative aims at providing a reliable and affordable transportation solution for the students, promoting a safer and more efficient commute.
