The annual Nelson Mandela University, Steelpannival, will be held at the NMU South Campus Auditorium this year.

The 2024 concert is in memory of the, late Professor Andrew Tracey, the first person to bring steelpans to South Africa.

The evening concert will feature some of the finest steel bands in South Africa, and will take place on?August 7, at 18:00.?

It will showcase performances by several school steel bands, such as Queen’s College Jnr (led by Rowan Knight), Clarendon High (led by Angela Kobus), Westering High (led by Bevan Maschaka), Kingsridge High (led by Sandy Jones), Lawson Brown High (led by Jade Jack), Graeme College High (led by Sylvester Appollis), Normoyle Primary (led by Jade Jack), Victoria Park High (led by Wendy Gilbert), Pantastix (led by Siya Xotyeni), Steelos?(led by Siya Xotyeni), Pantastix Prodigies?(led by Candice Parkin), and Nelson Mandela University (led by Siya Xotyeni).

The event promises to be an exciting showcase of the unique sound and culture of steelpan music in South Africa and is sure to be a memorable experience for all who attend.
