Gqeberha businessman Arnold Terblanche and Reinhardt Leach, who are accused of orchestrating the murder of Terblanche’s estranged wife, Vicki Terblanche, are set to stand trial early in the new year.
They are facing a slew of charges including murder, conspiracy to commit murder, and obstruction of justice.
The charges against Terblanche and Leach follow Vicki’s murder in October 2021.
The state alleges that Leach drugged, smothered, and with the help of two other people, buried Vicki in a shallow grave on a smallholding in Greenbushes.
In today’s court proceedings, Terblanche’s legal representative, Peter Dauberman, stated that they intend to submit two further applications.
Dauberman indicated that he would submit the applications by October 4.
The state would then need to respond on October 7.
Terblanche is currently out on bail for R1 million.
Leach remains in custody after his bail was denied in July.
