A talented group of dancers from Eastern Cape, led by coaches Ashleigh Maling Nel and Kirsten Dina Rossi, have qualified to compete in the Dance Sport Club League Nationals, taking place from October 25 to 27 in Cape Town this year.
These athletes earned their place after a series of impressive performances at regional competitions in Gqeberha.
The athletes competed at the Street Dance Association Dance
Sport Club League Eastern Cape competitions, they qualified and are eligible to
receive their Eastern Cape Provincial Colours from the Eastern Cape Sports
Confederation, by applying through the Federation of Dance Sport Eastern Cape.
Throughout the year, the team participated in two qualifying Dance Sport Club League competitions, showcasing their skill and dedication to reach this prestigious level. Under the expert choreography of Maling Nel, their African-themed performance at a recent competition was awarded double gold, showing the exceptional talent and creativity within the group.
With national honours in sight, the team is eager to make the Eastern Cape proud as they head to Cape Town soon.
This opportunity not only highlights the dancers’ individual talent but also shines a spotlight on the importance of dance as a growing sport in South Africa.
By representing their province at a national level, these young athletes will gain invaluable experience and exposure, all while bringing pride to their community. The event will further inspire local youth to pursue their passions in dance and sport, promoting teamwork, discipline, and artistic expression.
To support Team Eastern Cape in their journey to Nationals, a Music Trivia Fundraiser will be held at Eddie Macs on September 20 at 18:00.
Tickets are available for R100 per person, with teams of 8. For bookings, contact Ashleigh Maling Nel on 0817715818.
