ACCLAIMED local choreographer Candice Johnstone will showcase a flamboyant production by her ballet and contemporary dance studio at the Port Elizabeth Opera House on June 8 and 9.
“The Dance Academy’s performances will highlight a fresh approach to dance, celebrate the freedom of movement and incorporate all the things we love about South Africa,” said Johnstone.
“The production will be pertinent to our contemporary country but relates to our roots and the place we call home. The tone, quality of the dancers and costumes and the lighting by Dave Limbert will add to the show’s visual flamboyance.”
Johnstone is well known for her memorable big scale local productions such as The King and I, Evita, Chicago, Cabaret, Fiddler on the Roof, Footloose, Guys & Dolls, High School Musical and Oklahoma, and has won numerous awards for her outstanding contribution to the performing arts.
Bookings are open at Computicket for R130 per person.
