THE Nelson Mandela University’s Music Department is proud is to be hosting an Eastern Cape Trio of JF Viljoen, Caleb Vaughn-Jones and Jenny Brand at the Nelson Mandela University South Campus Auditorium on Saturday, June 2.

The recital will consist of pieces from Beethoven, Faure, Schumann and Mozart and is sure to leave you speechless.

The trio is made up of three brilliant musicians, who have managed to achieve so much through their love for music.

Vaughn-Jones, an American cellist, was born in Charleston, South Carolina, but now resides in South Africa.

Vaughn-Jones has performed in the Shakespeare Theatre in Washington DC and has contributed soundtrack recordings for the video game, Civilization V. He has also collaborated with many actors on stage and in film.

Viljoen and Brand are South African-born musicians.

Viljoen graduated with a Master’s degree in Music from the Nelson Mandela University and is the chosen soloist for the Eastern Cape Philharmonic Youth Concerto festival.

Brand studied in Bloemfontein, where she completed her BMus Hons and won the woodwind section of the ATKV Forte competition.

Tickets are available at the door for R50 (adults), R30 (pensioners) and R20 (students). The event starts at 19:00
