HOME side rugby supporters were taken aback when their sides succumbed on their home turfs during the EP Rugby Union League games that took place on Saturday.

Harlequins’ loyal supporters saw their side going down 20-11 to Uitenhage side Gardens RFC at the full Adcock Stadium.

It was a long-awaited game and hundreds of spectators came from all corners of Nelson Mandela Bay to support the teams.

However, Harlequins scored only one try while Gardens came up with two.

Be that as it may, it was one of the toughest matches of the league season so far.

Nelson Mandela University (NMU) earned a comprehensive victory when they trounced Missionvale United 47-14 at the South Campus Grounds in Summerstrand.

The students scored seven tries, while Missionvale United registered only two tries.

In another gruelling match St Marks (Port Elizabeth) overcame St Marks (Alice) 35-24.

African Bombers were ruthless when they whacked Brumbies 64-28 and Zwide United RFC supporters were more than happy when they saw their side thumping Glen Roses 47-6 in their away game.

Zwide United RFC scored seven tries while Roses failed to score any tries.
