WHAT was your favourite childhood memory? Playing at the park with your closest friends? Spending all day in front of the TV set, playing video games? Or perhaps it was taking road trips with the family.
Whichever it was, it was an incredibly special moment for you. Now it’s time for today’s children to experience a day of ‘fun-tastic’ activities.
Enter your local primary or high school into the Medihelp Train Race, taking place at 09:00 on August 19 at the Port Elizabeth Railway, and watch as a day of excitement unfolds between “The Machine” and The Youth.
For just R300 per team, the six learners from your school can enjoy a full day of entertainment, which will not only provide excellent physical activity but a chance to form strong relationships with their peers, while developing team work skills.
Come together as a team, take on the challenge against the tough train with five runners and one MTB cyclist. The winning team will be showered with congratulations, given full boasting rights and a cool floating trophy for their fantastic achievements.
Every youngster who takes part in the race, will receive a race T-shirt and a finishers’ medal for their participation.
From 10:00, the crowd can prepare for some more friendly entertainment at the Uitenhage Station Festival while awaiting the arrival of the contestants. Spoil yourself with refreshments from various food vendors while sipping on a sweet beverage, enjoying the fantastic line-up of performances by legendary Bay musicians Claire Venn, Sherid van Rooyen and South Africa’s top up-and-coming mentalist, Brendon Peel.
The prize-giving takes place at 13:00 and a closing of the festivities at 14:00.
Unfortunately, no card facilities are available at the festival area – cash only.
The Rotary Kids Zone for children 12 years and under costs just R30 per child.
