A YOUNG entrepreneur from Kensington in Port Elizabeth was recently named one of 36 winners in Shoprite’s national Hustle competition.

Lazola Nxele started LBN Hygiene Solutions in 2012. Today the business not only creates 16 different cleaning detergents, but also offers all forms of personal protective equipment.

He is one of 36 small business owners who received a cash injection and marketing support valued at over R70 000 as part of Shoprite’s Hustle competition.

The competition was open to all small business owners with an annual turnover of less than R1 million.

LBN Hygiene won the Eskom Business Investment Competition in the manufacturing category in 2015 and 2016 and was a Top 40 National Gazelle Member in 2017.

With the boost received from Shoprite, Nxele now hopes to procure more equipment and employ additional staff members.

“My ultimate goal is for LBN Hygiene Solutions to become a national bottler for big commercial companies’ cleaning detergents,” he said.
