AFTER months of searching for our Miss Matric Dance for 2018, the winner was finally chosen. She is the beautiful Lisa-Nicole Scholtz from Pearson High School.
She bowled the judges over with her stunning dress and overall look for her matric dance which was held in the Tramways Building on September 27.
She was crowned as the fifth PE Express Miss Matric Dance winner.
Lisa-Nicole said she loved the idea of having a fairytale dress. “Something a Disney princess would wear. Looking through many photos, I formed my own design,” she said.
Her dress was made by Anita Seal of Anita Creative Designer.
Her hair was done by HeadSmart Hair Salon, her make-up was done by Theano Zenios and her photo-grapher was Elizabeth Erasmus from Lubella Photography.
According to Lisa-Nicole, most of her planning for her matric dance was done in February and March.
She said her matric dance exceeded her expectations “above and beyond”.
“The Tramways building was transformed into a breathtaking Winter Wonderland.
“With incredible food, music and company it was set for a night to remember,” Lisa-Nicole recalled of her special night.
She was accompanied to her dance by Matthew Harris, also from Pearson.
She found out about the PE Express Miss Matric Dance competition through mutual friends on Facebook who participated in the competition in previous years. “The Miss Matric Dance Competition is a friendly contest making all the ladies feel special,” she said.
She said she never expected to come this far in the competition.
“I did not expect to make it this far at all. I was in awe and disbelief making the top 9. I am grateful and excited to have the honour of being chosen as Miss Matric Dance 2018.”
Lisa-Nicole was a prefect (discipline portfolio) at Pearson this year and she was a part of the representative council of students from Grade 8 to 12.
She was also the vice president of the Interact club; the vice president of the Photographic Arts Club and she played water polo for the school’s first team.
She will study towards a BPharm degree (Pharmacy) at Nelson Mandela University next year.
In her free time, she enjoys spending quality time with her friends and family by doing things like taking spontaneous road trips or making food.
Her advice for next year’s matriculants attending a matric dance?
“Thoroughly plan ahead – it will just relieve the stress closer to the time. Comfortable shoes is a must!”
