QUICK Service Restaurant (QSR) and Hungry Lion, were welcomed with open arms by the children of Miracle Kids Stimulation Centre last week Friday.
Hungry Lion sponsored an upgrade of the institution’s premises in Port Elizabeth, while QSR hosted a competition on social media, encouraging South Africans to nominate charities in need of an upgrade.
Miracle Kids Stimulation Centre for children with disabilities proved to be dear to the hearts of South Africans all over and was ultimately announced as the winner of this competition.
Miracle Kids Stimulation Centre was established in 2008 by Genevieve Hendricks, who has experience in nursing, psychology and facilitating children with cerebral palsy.
“It means a lot to me, as the founder of the centre, that there are still organisations willing to go the extra mile when lending a helping hand, more so, to the beneficiaries of Miracle Kids Stimulation Centre whose living standards are improved by generous donations like this one.
“We now have one less thing to worry about, thank you Hungry Lion,” she said.
One of the beneficiaries, a 12-year-old, said she was so happy that Hungry Lion built them a wheelchair ramp.
“Now the teachers do not have to carry us when we want to go outside.”
Hungry Lion regional manager, Jackie Oschman, said the fast food chain believed in sharing.
“It is so fulfilling to share more with our local communities, and supporting institutions such as Miracle Kids Stimulation Centre, in their aims to better the living standards of those in need, is something we are proud to be part of,” said Oschman.
