MDANTSANE-BASED side Tornado FC could not celebrate their weekend victory as their boss, Siphiwo Nyobo, was gunned down in his car as he was leaving the stadium after the game.

League contenders Tornado FC claimed a 4-1 victory over Birmingham City in their ABC Motsepe League match that took place in North End Stadium on Saturday, March 2.

Mawawa, as Nyobo is affectionately called by his clan, a businessman and well-known traditional healer, ran Tornado FC successfully.

At the time of the tragedy, Tornado FC were still occupying the top spot on the ABC Motsepe League table.

As things currently stand, it seems as though the Tornado FC players’ futures are uncertain as Nyobo often supported the team out of his own pocket.
