JOB creation and self confidence inspired two young women from Port Elizabeth to develop a beauty range, which boasts various products to cater for a wide variety of users.
The Amber Fragrance and Beauty range was recently launched by Amber Blommetjie and Chumonue Slamdill, in an effort to create job opportunities for the youth and employ them under the brand.
“I had a vision to make people, especially women, feel better about themselves when they use this product. I want to inspire young people and to make them realise that no dream is impossible,” Blommetjie said.
The brand has since extended from a fragrance range to toiletry products for men, women and babies. It ranges from French oil-based perfumes and crystal bath products to shampoos and conditioners as well.
Blommetjie added, “The brand will be available in stores in the near future, but we currently have reps across Port Elizabeth and Uitenhage who sell the products. This is also how they generate an income.”
Hailing from Bethelsdorp, 25-year-old Blommetjie created the brand to boost women’s self confidence and to inspire her community. “As any other woman, I love fragrances and beauty products.
“A friend suggested that I start with a brand of my own. So I took the leap of faith and today that same friend, Chumonue Slamdill, also my business partner and my business mentor, is helping me with this new chapter and journey,” Blommetjie commented.
The rising entrepreneur describes the brand as “affordable, distinct and inspiring” and in addition, shares the same name as the brand.
“I’m proud to be associated with sharing the same name. However, I want the public to see the brand’s name as its own definition. “Amber” means a distinct orange colour that brings warmth and light.
“That’s the inspiration behind the name and what makes this brand so unique is that people can find it right here in Port Elizabeth,” she said.
Blommetjie attended Otto du Plessis High School in Port Elizabeth and is currently a student at the University of South Africa.
“I would like to thank my family, friends and the community for their love and support. I am truly humbled and I appreciate being in a position to make a difference,” Blommetjie said.
