PREMIERE Models in Port Elizabeth are hosting various high teas and fashion shows to raise funds for the community through the ‘Moms on the Runway’ initiative.

According to Margo Hübsch, from Premiere Models, the initiative started two years ago and has shown sustained growth.

“We provide entertainment for high teas and fashion shows to raise funds for churches, schools and the Malabar Home for the Aged. We have been able to donate a percentage of the earnings to the home after each fashion show,” Hübsch said.

Premiere Models is a community-based organisation and their motto is, “For the community, because we are the community”.

Hübsch added, “We encourage all women and children to join. There is no discrimination against age, gender or tone of physique. We teach our moms how to love themselves and embrace who they are.

“Many of our ladies were also chosen to participate in the Bay Fashion week last year.”

The agency encourages children to join from all walks of life in an effort to keep them off the streets.

“We teach them how to love and respect themselves and others. We strive to build their self-esteem, which teach them to have confidence,” Hübsch commented.

The public are invited to attend classes on Thursdays at 18:00 at the Malabar Community Centre, and Saturdays at Cleary Park between 12:00 and 13:00.
