TALENTED local performer Esmeralda Petersen is gearing up to compete in the International ARTS Talent Showcase in Orlando, Florida in the USA, in July.
She was still in primary school when she discovered her passion for writing, reading and storytelling.
Being involved in community and church theatre for over two decades, Petersen has shown the necessary passion and determination to thrive in it.
In June 2018, when she auditioned for Applause Rising Talent Showcase (ARTS) International in Port Elizabeth, she caught the attention of ARTS International regional director, Elsubie Verlinden.
Petersen later went on to audition for the National ARTS convention in Johannesburg in October 2018, when she was scouted and received a formal invitation from director, Kim Meyers, to represent South Africa in Florida in the USA in July.
ARTS International helps adults and youth aspiring to be actors, models, dancers and singers cut through the red tape in the industry to find healthy success.
They find agents, castings, managers and producers that they trust and have a long-lasting relationship with to help launch the careers of the participants.
Twice a year, these top industry decision-makers are invited to an event featuring the participants in a fully produced international talent showcase.
“It is important to me that this industry has good quality content for people of all ages and people from all walks of life,” Petersen said.
She has been able to assist many young people in their performing arts learning and would like to continue to teach and uplift those around her.
“When you want to go fast, go alone. When you want to go further, go together.”
