Woodridge College recently hosted the second consecutive Stayers Water Polo Tournament, which has been recognised as the second biggest sporting event of its kind in the country. Held from 10 to 13 October 2024, this prestigious tournament attracted 28 teams from 19 schools across the country, including Woodridge.
Making full use of the floodlights that have recently been erected, the event took place on the unique 365-acre Woodridge estate in the Eastern Cape, providing a vibrant atmosphere for players, coaches, and supporters alike. The tournament featured a rigorous format with teams divided into two pools and play starting as early as 07:00 in the morning and ending well after sunset.
This event not only highlighted the exceptional talent present but also fostered camaraderie and sportsmanship among participants. The success of the tournament underscores the continued development of water polo as a competitive discipline at school level in South Africa. We thank our sponsors, Investec, Jendamark Automation, Southsure Brokers, and Vincent Valley Lodge for their contribution to the tournament.
