THE People Upliftment Programme (POPUP) Nelson Mandela Bay will start their next life skills programme on October 14.
The NPO opened its doors in April 2017 to residents living in and around Nelson Mandela Bay, with the vision to help needy residents to uplift and restore themselves.
POPUP provides services to learners between the ages of 18 and 45, who are unemployed with no access to tertiary education. They should be able to read, write and speak English.
Learners start with a compulsory six-week life skills programme to assist in practical needs, such as CV drafting, budgeting skills, interviewing skills and more.
This is followed by an opportunity for a learnership, like IT end-user computing, or choosing a specific skill to upskill and giving them the opportunity to move into a workplace.
POPUP aims to upskill learners to a high quality so that when they are placed in the workplace they are ready for the environment.
Their next life skills classes start on October 14 at 08:30. For registration, learners must bring R120 (which includes all stationery, books and a meal each day), a copy of their ID and a copy of their qualification certificates or evidence of the highest grade they passed.
Learners can register at Piet Retief Primary School at 174 Sutton Road, Sidwell, from Monday to Thursday between 08:30 and 15:00.
