HORSE RACING will take centre stage on Friday, October 25, and Sunday, October 27, with the annual double header at Fairview Racecourse.

As before, fashion and fun will headline the occasion with the spotlight on Sunday, from a racing perspective, falling on the R350 000 Socrasync Toro Ya Africa Algoa Cup (Listed) over 2 000m on the turf track.

The Algoa Cup often attracts runners from all over the country and the race has been dominated by the visitors.

Last year’s winner, Magnificent Seven, went on to be named champion stayer at the recent Equus Award dinner.

The Algoa Cup meeting will, apart from the horse racing, also offer the following:

. Free entry to course. Gates open at 11:00.

. Musical performances by The Creed, a dynamic three-piece male vocal group

. Luke Rudman and his plastic monsters – Luke has been taking the world by storm with his surreal human artworks

. Food stalls offering an array of eats

. A kids’ zone, with face painting and free sweets and cold drinks

. Hospitality package on offer which includes a luncheon in the HB Christian Room, with welcome wines and race cards, at a cost of R350 per person

. Prize give-aways throughout the afternoon

. Models from Sophisticate Models will be showing off designs from some of PE’s best designers. There will be three shows during the course of the afternoon.
