MOTHERWELL Football Association’s (MOFA) newly promoted side, United FC, stunned Tomorrow Stars when they overcame them 2-1 in a MOFA Welcome Home Tournament round-robin game at Motherwell NU 11 Stadium on Sunday.

Stars started the match confined to their own territory as United were on the attack, but managed to turn things around and score first. Phumzile Mathe scored both of United FC’s goals.

Stars then started to push many players forward, as United concentrated on defence. Stars’ seasoned striker, Fuzile Ntebe, failed to capitalise on a ball from a corner kick, because he headed as though he was defending for United FC.

Ntebe scored Stars’ consolation goal in the last minutes of the game.

In another exciting game, Real Aces drew 2-2 with MOFA First Division champions, Eleven Stars. Aces led 2–0 for a long time but Stars came from behind to held Aces into a 2-2 draw.

However, Stars defeated Manchester United 2–1 in their last game of their group stage. As things stand, Stars have qualified for the last-16 knockout stage.

Other MOFA Welcome Home Tournament results:

Khuphuka Stars 0–0 City Rangers

Real Strikers 0–4 FC Motherwell
