SOMETHING exciting is brewing in the air for artists, DJs and music producers in Nelson Mandela Bay.
On Saturday, November 2, Boston City Campus and Business College will host its first Nelson Mandela Bay Music Indaba at the Athenaeum Theatre in Central.
Boston City Campus and Business College branch manager, Albert Verster, said that he saw an influx of music producers looking to improve their skills and six years ago he grabbed the opportunity to offer digital music composition and production, as well as DJ courses, under the banner of Soul Candi, who developed the learning material.
“Most of the applicants for our music production courses are producing music in their bedrooms. They are talented; they just need direction and to be taught how to perfect their art. Not many people know that we offer this course and that we have a recording studio, so this is where the Music Indaba was born from,” Verster said.
The indaba will host an array of speakers and include DJ and production demonstrations. Artists, DJs and music producers had the opportunity to submit their music to enter the competition component of the event.
“The three finalists in each category will have an opportunity to perform their song on stage at the event. The winners in each category will win a recording session and a course through Boston City Campus and Business College, as well as prizes from Soul Candi,” Vorster said.
The Nelson Mandela Bay Music Indaba will be held at The Athenaeum in Central on November 2 from 10:00 to 16:30. For more info and to RSVP, e-mail musicindaba@boston.co.za
